{"id":3501,"date":"2016-11-22T06:56:40","date_gmt":"2016-11-22T06:56:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/insights.invyo.io\/europe\/?p=3501"},"modified":"2019-04-12T16:50:49","modified_gmt":"2019-04-12T16:50:49","slug":"payments-and-e-money-licensing-in-lithuania","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/insights.invyo.io\/europe\/analyses\/payments-and-e-money-licensing-in-lithuania\/","title":{"rendered":"Payments and e-money licensing in Lithuania"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Lithuania now position itself as an alternative\u00a0choice for those considering entry to the European market, diversifying the risk of accessing the single market after BREXIT.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>Facts&amp;Figures about payments\u00a0license in Lithuania<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A company holding <strong>payments license<\/strong>, is entitled to provide any or all payment services identified in Annex 1 of PSD I.<\/p>\n<p>Two types of the <strong>payments license<\/strong> are available:<\/p>\n<p>(i) restricted scope: valid only in Lithuania and the average monthly volume of the payment transactions shall not exceed <strong>EUR 3 million within the last 12 months<\/strong>;<\/p>\n<p>(ii) full scope: a company holding a full scope payments license may provide payment services across the EEA (<strong>no volume limits apply<\/strong>) under the freedom of establishment or freedom of services.<\/p>\n<p>The minimum required equity capital for the full scope payment institution varies from <strong>EUR 20 thousand to EUR 125 thousand<\/strong> (depending on the payment services to be offered).<\/p>\n<h3>Facts&amp;Figures about e-money\u00a0license in Lithuania<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A company holding<strong> e-money license<\/strong> is entitled to issue, circulate and redeem e-money as well as to provide any or all of the payment services identified in Annex 1 of PSD I.<\/p>\n<p>Two types of the <strong>e-money license<\/strong> are available:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">(i) restricted scope: valid only in Lithuania and the average monthly amount of the unpaid e-money shall not exceed <strong>EUR 900 thousand within the last 6 months<\/strong>;<\/p>\n<p>(ii) full scope license.
