In Glasgow, we can tap into talent from the universities across central Scotland including Glasgow, Strathclyde and Edinburgh, amongst others. The support that we\u2019ve had from the government and Scottish Enterprise has also been very strong.\u201d &#8211;\u00a0<\/em><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">Stephen Flaherty, Manging Director of J.P. Morgan<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Edimbourgh is a solid yet discret financial place compared to London and a vibrant fintech ecosystem, among the most dynamic in Europe. The force of Scotland is its large cluster with different cities who are HQ\u2019d.<\/p>\n<h3>A strong public vs private Fintech couple<\/h3>\n<p>With the Brexit, Scottish autorities have been working closely with the private sector (banks, technology companies, asset managers and Financial institutions etc.) to design a strong and attractive fintech ecosystem.<\/p>\n<p>Two organizations also appear to play a key role: the\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sdi.co.uk\/\">Scottish development international<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fintechscotland.com\/?_lrsc=eb7e8fb8-9561-4114-9fa9-7478fbb2b199\">Fintech Scotland<\/a><\/strong> (since 2017). FinTech Scotland was born out of the collaboration between the private and public sector around one objective of growth and employment to\u00a0secure\u00a0Scotland\u2019s place as one of the leading fintech centres.<\/p>\n<p>According to its newly elected CEO, Stephen Ingledew:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cOur aim is to move Scotland into the FinTech\u2018Champions League\u2019 by securing a top 10 place in the Global FinTech Hub Federation by 2020. It\u2019s an ambitious target, but I\u2019m convinced that Scotland\u2019s heritage in data, in academia and in the growth of the tech sector will allow us to achieve our goal.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>By providing a collaborative and connected ecosystem, Scotland has everything to attract national and international entrepreneurs as well as talent pools.<\/p>\n<h3>FinTech Scotland &#8211; Key Data<\/h3>\n<p>Scotland is the UK\u2019s <strong>2nd largest Financial cluster<\/strong> after London.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>86,600 people are employed<\/strong> across Banking, Asset Management, Asset Servicing, Insurance and Life &amp; Pensions.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Over <strong>10,000 students<\/strong> graduate from courses in Mathematical Sciences, Computer Science and Engineering &amp; Technology every year.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>5 Scottish universities in the <strong>world\u2019s top 200<\/strong>.
