30 Fintech Influencers you must know in Brazil

Techfoliance and I identified the 30 most popular Fintech influencers in Brazil. Here is what we found. 

Brazil is the most active country in Fintech in Latin America. With more than 200 start-ups in sectors ranging from payments to insurance, the country has become a major Fintech hub over the past years. More specifically, the city of São Paulo is the epicenter of the sector, where most start-ups, incumbents and investors are established and where top events such as Fintech Venture days, CIAB, São Paulo Fintech Summit or InnovationPay are held.

Fintech in Brazil: key figures

Brazil has one of the highest Fintech adoption rates in the world: ‘74% of bank customers adopted Fintech services’.


Nubank is the most funded Fintech start-up in the country and received almost $180 million since its launch in 2013.


As of today, Brazil has only half of its 200 million inhabitants online.


More than 55 million adults in Brazil still don’t have a bank account.


Mobile phone penetration is above 115% in the whole country.


More than 40% of the population remain excluded from traditional banking systems.


Top Fintech influencers in Brazil

We based our analysis on a series of metrics reflecting the engagement of each professional on the list in the Brazilian Fintech ecosystem, such as:

  • Professional achievements (founding / being a member of a Fintech company, having a relevant current role in the sector, attracting considerable amount of investments to one’s companies)
  • Participation in the Fintech community (organizing, hosting, speaking at or being a panelist at key events; being part of accelerators or associations fostering the development of the industry; being a thought leader in the sector)
  • Social media activity (having a relevant number of followers, sharing interesting content across different social media platforms)

Please keep in mind that this is not an exhaustive list. There are many more people currently contributing directly or indirectly to the Brazilian Fintech ecosystem.

Can Paris become the new Capital of Fintech in Europe? Yes, at least for two days! – Episode 1

Techfoliance is back on the road to go and meet the global Fintech community. Our ambition is to highlight emerging trends to better understand the future of finance. Our next stop will be Paris.

Next January, our team will be at the Paris Fintech Forum, one of the biggest event in Fintech. Check out here to have more information on the event !

Just to give you a quick overview of the size of this event, here is a map that illustrates the diversity of the Fintech that will be on stage to pitch their start-up:

During these two days, Paris will be the European Capital of Fintech and will host more than 120 Top-level Fintech start-ups coming from 25 countries. The event will take place at the Palais Brongniart which used to be the Paris Stock Exchange.

Once a week until the event we will share insights on one Topic and highlight 20 Fintech start-ups that will try to convince more than 1,200 professionnals and investors that their idea is about to revolutionnize the banking sector!

Episode 1 – Payment: what comes next?

In 2016, the market’s largest segment in Europe was “Digital Payments” with a total transaction value of US$541,394m according to a recent study published by Statista. Payment solutions also had the biggest impact on banking and have been recognised by experts as the hottest sector for the year 2016, followed by security / authentification and lending.

We suggest that you read Capgemini’s study on the 10 trends in Payments in 2016. The study shows the growth in adoption of digital payments, entry of non-traditional players and proliferation of immediate payments as well as the potential of Blockchain solutions that could further disrupt the industry.

Claire Calmejane – London

Frédéric Tardy – Hong Kong

He also drove marketing and distribution at the AXA Group in 60 countries and is setting up global agreements with partners such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Blablacar, Alibaba, etc. He is a Board Member of AXA Global Direct (Direct Insurance leader), of AXA Strategic Ventures and Kamet (start up studio). He also serves as a mentor for start ups. He finally invested in Fintech start-ups such as Comparaonline in South America and has been awarded Chief Digital Officer of the year in France in 2015 and 2016.


#Event – Paris Fintech Forum, from Paris with Fintech Love

Less than two months left before Paris Fintech Forum, the main digital finance and Fintech event in Europe, opens its doors in Paris.

In the year 2016, Paris Fintech Forum launched its first conference in Paris and gathered more than 70 Fintech start-ups and 850+ participants coming from 12 countries. Its ambition was to connect top-level entrepreneurs, experts, bankers, politicians and influencers from the financial and Fintech space.

With this first edition, the PFF2016 has established itself as an important voice in the public and private debate to shape the future of finance with experience and vision sharing from the most influential game changers.

For this year’s session, the #PFF2017 is expected to be even bigger with more than 1,200 interntional delegates.
